![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Both of the new characters (Chip and Kwackeys), all of their vehicles, and all of the cosmetics (vehicle colors and stickers) are unlockable via the paid season pass, but now ALSO unlockable via Tickets. It is noteworthy that not many people actually had to pay for this pass, since SE gave away the currency needed to purchase it. Fortunately, he could be earned on just Gil from the free pass and remains available to people in season 2. The second unlockable character, Squall, is/was available via Gil. The free season pass still got you gil and experience boosts, but not as much. Cloud and his vehicles were left behind in Season 1 and are currently completely unobtainable to anyone who didn't pay for the pass and grind endlessly. The other rewards were all cosmetic stuff, Gil, and experience boosts. Unless you played for hours every single day and won constantly, you weren't getting them. Cloud was at rank 60, which could take weeks to earn. You gained very little experience between each race and it took ages to unlock the content. To make matters worse, you had to level up your season pass rank to unlock them, and during Season 1, this was an absolute slog. Every racer and vehicle in this game has unique stats and abilities, and during Season 1, the only way to get Cloud from FFVII and his extra vehicles was to buy the season pass. But microtransactions become bad when they lock gameplay content behind them. Microtransactions in games are not inherently bad - if they're just cosmetics and stuff to obtain cosmetics, who cares - it's the same as DLC for any other game. Everyone who comments about how bad this game is has been soured by Season 1. ![]()
